Day 5---and oh how my senses have been heightened.
I was forced to rush this morning before I had to be to work at 7 am... yes on a Saturday.. and Andrew (did I mention how wonderful he is <3) helped me by making the quick and delicious Apple-Grape drink less the ginger. And it was delicious and filling as has been in the previous days.
I worked until around 11 and came home to make some egg and fresh veggie omelets (SOOO GOOD!) and got to work to make three juices to last us up to our dinner choice. We began our vegetable and fruit chopping all over the kitchen and decided on:
Snack--Afternoon Zing:
1 cup of broccoli
1/4 Lemon (with peel)
1/2 Seedless Red grapes
1 Pear
Lunch(Soup)--Garden Vegetable:
3 Celery stalks
2 medium Zucchini
1 small Onion (Yellow--peeled)
5 Carrots (top removed)
+ black pepper and salt (to taste)
-->Mix the juice and the pulp in a pot, and simmer on low-medium heat for about 5 minutes. Serve Hot.
[[WARNING:: Makes alot!]]
Snack #2-- 1/2 cup of Almonds and a juice called Sweet Sensation (via book):
1 Orange (peeled)
1 Sweet Apple
1 Nectarine
1 Carrot (tops removed)
1/2 Cantaloupe (peel removed)
**Well in the midst of having veggies and fruit covering the counters I forgot to put the carrot in this one... so we can vouch for this recipe less the carrot...And it was DELICIOUS. very light and refreshing, and I also noticed a sense of energy from it which was euphoric. I usually have to get two extra shots of espresso in my Venti Chai Tea Latte to feel that aware, and it was better than that 7.65 paradise--at only 2.50$!
Later, I went to go play/coach volleyball and felt physically weak; I was bummed. However, once I began to play I was totally capable and was even acing my 16 year old athletes (so cool, I know.. ha!). I am still unsure how to explain how this diet has made me feel.. hopefully I'll find those words in the next 7 days.
After Andrew got home from work we decided on our dinner juice, in addition to my 1/2 cup of peanuts, and what we chose to call--
Sweet Pepper:
1/4 Large Red Bell Pepper
1 Celery Stalk
1/2 Lime (peeled)
2 Cloves of Garlic
1 Small Apple
This one was interesting... It was sweet while drinking and then the garlic and bell pepper left an after taste. But good and very filling. Its weird to be considering a drink filling.. maybe a milkshake, but Juice?
I don't know, but at the end of this adventure we will see if it was worth it. :)
Things we have noticed:
1.) Haven't craved or needed coffee to function...woo!
2.) I usually have oily skin, esp w/it being monsoon season (meaning 60%+ humidity!) and today it was relatively balanced. Without having makeup on... that will be an accomplishment in itself if that all I get at the end of 12 days! :)
3.) My senses have been heightened!!
No Joke--While I was cleaning earlier this afternoon I kept smelling coffee, so at first I think I'm going crazy and starving and smelling what I yearned for.. and later I find out the roommates left the coffee pot on so it was over cooking. I smelt that faint smell over pinesol! Also, I could smell pringles while my brother was eating them across the table from me. I may be starving.. HA!
No I'm jk, and NOT starving... I will eat before that happens! :)
Good night everyone--and happy Juicing!

Day 4; loving the results already!!
Day 4: The last day of prep
I have been so happy with today!
Andrew and I have both noticed that we do not feel as hungry as often and my focus was keen as well. Not bad results for only four days of eating right and taking in the amount of fruits and veggies I was suppose to be having daily. Its a nice change.
Started our day with the "Apple-Grapeness" (Andrews favorite) and two eggs. Quick and easy, and just as tasty as anything else!!
Well maybe not.. ha!
After running errands... seems like I always am on my down time... and returned to make our days worth of juices. We decided to make two juices and take the Gazpacho from yesterdays blend [[WARNING: that recipe makes a ton of soup..]] and one juice being "sweet blues" from yesterday also. That is just an amazing juice... try that one if anything. :)
Our second one was called:
ADRENALINE RUSH--
1 Lemon (peel intact)
1 Orange (peeled)
1 Pineapple Spear (rind removed)
Three 3" cubes of Watermelon (rind removed)
It lasted me all day with only eating a couple of my smoked almonds..
I'm excited for these next 7 days of Juice experimentation.. Were making a hot soup tomorrow!! I cant wait to have something warm other than eggs! :)
Go Juice!

Day 3--Because today is really Day 3..The Adventurous day.
Day 3; the final phase of the prep!
meaning NOTHING but raw veggies and fruits (well and our eggs:)) either whole or juiced. We increased our juices to four a day, a soup that we made with our juicer--I'm in love with that thing now--and watching our water intake as well.
Today was a real early morning.. we both had to be out the door by 7am on our days off! Before all our business became overwhelming we had the most amazing juice!
Found this one in a juice book--
SUPER JUICE:
1/3 Pineapple (peeled)
3 Clementines (or 2 oranges-Peeled)
2 Mangoes (Peeled)
2 Bananas
1/2 Kiwi (peeled)
I never wanted to stop drinking it!
We then went our separate ways for most of the day, I got to enjoy my eggs with my padre, then got some errands done to soon be back enjoying my lovely juicer and the rest of my day off with my mister. While he cleaned up a dog disaster (it looked like a winter wonderland with feathers from a pillow) I got to make our lunch juice, which would HOPEFULLY be a replacement for the Alkaline. And here it is--
AFTERNOON DELIGHT:
2 large cucumbers (peeled or not, I keep the peel for the nutrients)
2 large carrots (tops off)
1 sweet apple
1/4 lime (peeled)
1/2 lemon (peeled)
As the name states, it was a delight! It wasn't tangy from the carrots like the alkaline, and I was so happy I could find a replacement...Now I just need to find a better mix of veggies for my spinach..
I was then able to take a well needed nap.
I then found out that our juicer came with this awesome book that had other recipes for non-juice items such as muffins, salsa, and SOUPS! So we decided to give it a try for dinner! All it the recipes needed was to run it through, mix it with the pulp and heat or chill. Sounded like a good easy way to end a day.
Mmm we chose the Gazpacho.. With our own little twist, adding red pepper and jalapeno. Made it taste a bit like a salsa version of a gazpacho, ha, but a good change to juice (although its nearly the same thing). There is a picture below of the soup before it was mixed.. I just thought all the colors were so amazing. <3
.. But we are able to spoil our selves because we can do all this for 20$/day for both of us.. so much better than the 40+ were use to. But anyway, we made a juice dessert drink, and it is incredible. Its tied up there with the super juice... here it is--
SWEET BLUES: (I named it.. for the color as the picture below will show)
1 Nectarine (pitted)
2 Clementines (peeled)
1 cup of Blackberries
1.5 Bananas
Mmm... Successful. I am full. :)

Day 2--already slacking...But not on my juicing!
Day Two-- Still prepping!
Aside from wanting to everything that smells fatty and greasy, I am doing pretty well! My body is adapting well I feel, because like most Americans I LIVE on coffee to survive my long days, yet these last two days I've felt quite energized. Its refreshing, and not to mention a money saver!
We decided to keep the alkaline and the Apple-grape juice for today and add in another (since we need to build up to 4-5 juices daily). However, while drinking the Alkaline, I made the executive decision to change out that one. One, because it stains my plastic containers and Two, it made me gag the WHOLE time I was drinking it. Not something I want to deal with. So we will work on replacing that tomorrow! But, I was capable of begging the boyf to get new veggies to come up with a better juice. THANK GOODNESS FOR COSTCO!! :)
Here is our new juice for the day that I decided to name "Raspberry Treat"
1 Orange
3" chunk of watermelon
2 cup raspberries
1 banana
Oh!! and we decided, via research the diet "guide" a little more :) and also by hunger, to keep two eggs a day in our diets. Primarily because I already have a protein deficiency and wouldn't want that to get any worse.. and here is the pic of the boyf prior to this diet, we want to see if he'll look any different.

Day 1--Preparing to become a juicer
Hello everyone,
I have never been much of a blogger, however when I was doing personal research about juicing and the effects it has, I was praying to scroll across one (and never did..). So here I am, adding to my already extensive work load to help those health freaks like myself.
First, I will let you know that there is not enough documented results of an all juice diet to truly prove if it's something your body will be able to tolerate, and whether or not it will have averse effects. But, I was able to come up with some information that aided in my plan to juicing--
1. Juicing can only be used as a detox if you are of healthy weight (and don't let your self-consciousness dictate this). If you are of average, even slightly above, weight it is recommended that you juice for 5-10 days max.
2. You must prep your body to go through this-- meaning its a five day weening period of grains, bread, dairy and meat. You slowly transition into eating raw veggies and fruit two days prior to full juice diet.
3. If you are overweight, it is ESSENTIAL that you discuss this diet with your doctor and remain monitored, for your fasting period can be anywhere from 15-60 days.
4. Water is even more important while on this fast/diet; you increase your daily servings from 8oz to 10oz. Do not get dehydrated!!
I think thats all for now... there are a TON of pros and cons to it, but the cons mostly apply to those in the obese category. Other than that you can expect some bowel changes... enough said.
Now to my story...
Luckily I am able to do this with my WONDERFUL boyfriend, because if he was eating around me, I am sure my will power would not suffice.
I decided to shop in two day increments, so that I do not get sick of a particular juice, and that I do not risk having any fruit go bad. Since it is all fresh and organic, they dont have the shelf life like other fruits and veggies.
Today (was a prep day) so I had a breakfast juice with egg whites and yogurt, and made myself a lunch juice and made a egg salad for dinner. I decided to give up breads and meats for the first two days of prep, and everything the last couple. Here are my recipes for my juice.. I was impressed myself...
Each Juice Recipe is a one person serving--
Breakfast juice:
3 kiwi's (peeled and rinsed, put in whole)
1 cup of Blueberries
1 banana (cut into fourths)
Lunch Juice: we called it Alkaline Juice
1 cup of spinach (Bunch it up as you put it in)
1/2 Cucumber (skin on)
2 Stalks of celery with leaves
3 peeled carrots
1/2 Apple
and my back up snack juice was....
1 cup of grapes
1 apple
1/2 lime (peeled)
1/4 Lemon
1/4 inch of ginger root
GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE JOINING THIS JOURNEY WITH ME. :)
